We are the family office for Genuine McCarthy Enterprises, whose legacy began in 1864 and is the inspiration for our name. The mission of 1864 Holdings is to protect and enhance the financial futures of the 2,700+ employee-owners we serve through a diversified portfolio of investments.
1864 is the bridge that connects our passionate employee-owners with equally driven organizations seeking investors to sustain their long-term vision.
Prior to joining 1864, Jay served as CFO for a group of affiliated companies founded by former NBA star and Basketball Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant in 2013, with the primary goal of inspiring the next generation of athletes.
During his time with Kobe Inc., Jay was responsible or deeply involved in the financial, operational, legal, HR and IT aspects for the Bryant family of companies.
He managed all financial efforts to build, develop, and grow a global multimedia company, private equity initiatives, and family management under the Kobe Inc. umbrella, including Granity Studios, an original content
studio that produces award-winning content to inspire young athletes to maximize their full potential through creative storytelling. Jay was also involved in the development and actively engaged with Bryant-Stibel, consisting of a venture capital fund as well as a strategic growth/PE fund.
He worked closely with the Bryant-Stibel team, which has made nearly 30 investments since 2014 in the technology, media, data and consumer brand space. Investments include Legal Zoom, Dell Technologies, UFC, Scopely, Tile, Art of Sport, Honest Company, Alibaba, EPIC Games, and Cholula.
As a family advisor, Jay provided trusted and guided advice ranging from investment management to venture investments such as BodyArmor Sports Drink.
Prior to Kobe Inc., Jay spent over 20 years in public accounting at two of the largest accounting firms in the world —PricewaterhouseCoopers (“PWC”) and RSM. More recently, Jay was the Office Managing Partner of RSM’s St. Louis office.
Jay Wadkins serves as the President and Chief Investment Officer for 1864 Holdings and is responsible for strategy, investment evaluation and overall portfolio management.

1864 Holdings, LLC and its subsidiary companies (collectively “1864”) are committed to protecting the privacy of your information. Our website is not intended for children nor do we knowingly collect information from children under the age of 16.

The Digital Services are hosted in the United States but may be accessed internationally as well. The Personal Data entered into this system is considered business contact information. We collect and use the Personal Data to: respond to your requests, make marketing and sales initiatives relevant to your needs, communicate product or service information, provide service and support, provide directions to our offices, communicate significant changes to the websites, or inform you of future thought-leading conferences, and other events. We also may use the information to better improve our Digital Services, to enable us to customize your experience on the sites, and display relevant informational or promotional material.

These communications may include email, newsletters, service offerings, and marketing event notices (for example: executive briefing and webinar notices).
